Paul H. Silverman
Paul H. Silverman, 79, former UNM vice president for research, died July 15. Silverman served at UNM throughout the 1970s. He was chair for the Committee on University Planning (COUP) and led the group for the life of the study.
Silverman is remembered as a brilliant scientist and pioneer in genome and stem cell research. He was an early advocate of the Human Genome Project.
A public memorial and burial took place in California. Silverman is survived by his wife, Nancy J. Silverman, and children, Daniel J. Silverman and Claire S. Clark.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made on his behalf to charitable organizations.
