Carroll named vice president for Advancement
Michael W. Carroll has been named vice president for Institutional Advancement and president of the UNM Foundation.
Carroll comes to New Mexico from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, where he served since 1997 as vice president for Development and Alumni Relations and president of the Rutgers University Foundation. At Rutgers, he led the $500 million Creating the Future Today university-wide capital campaign that exceeded its goal by raising $615 million in support for university programs.
“In Mike Carroll, we have found an absolute star who can help the university increase private support in order to reach our goal of making UNM one of the most well-regarded public research universities in America,” President Louis Caldera said.

Popular administrator steps up to teach
Associate Provost for Academic Affairs David Stuart is stepping down at the end of October.
“Life circumstances require me to take a new direction and free up some of my time,” Stuart said. “So my role at UNM will change when I step down from administration and focus on teaching, which I love.”
Stuart has served as associate provost since 2000, where he has overseen Weekend and Evening Degree Programs, summer school, a new ‘urban agenda’ and the graduation project.
