Prince of Spain
Their Royal Highnesses, the Prince and Princess of Asturias, Spain, met recently with President Louis Caldera, university faculty and administrators about the ongoing development and future direction of an endowed chair in information science and technology bearing the prince’s name. In a formal ceremony, the University Medal was presented to Iñigo de Oriol e Ybarra, chairman of the board of directors and president of Iberdrola, a Spanish utility company. Carving Contest
UNM Student Activities Center staff and students took first place in last year’s New Mexico Student Union Pumpkin Carving Contest. The 2004 event is Friday, Oct. 29, at the SUB. Students, staff and faculty are eligible to participate. Free pumpkins can be picked up in the SUB atrium starting at 10:30 a.m. Carved entries must be returned for judging by 1 p.m. Students and administrators will judge the pumpkins based on creativity, originality and effort. First-third prizes are awarded at 2 p.m.

Hall of Honor
The UNM Alumni Lettermen’s Association recently hosted its 2004 Hall of Honor awards ceremony. Inducted were, from left, Barbara Butler, Jim Bruening, Scott Creagan, Larry Tuttle and Divan Coetzee.
