KNME-TV funded for digital conversion
KNME-TV Channel 5 received $1.8 million in federal funding to move the statewide digital conversion project forward. The Federal Communications Commission mandated broadcasters to turn off analog channels by 2006.
The funding continues the multi-year digital conversion project for New Mexico Public Television, which includes the state’s three Public Broadcasting Stations, KNME, KENW in Portales and KRWG in Las Cruces.
KNME is the program manager and fiscal agent for the $15.4 million multi-year, multi-station project. Grant funds for the first phase were awarded in 2000.
Tune in for KNME’s extensive Native American Heritage Month coverage through Nov. 25.
