Press Conference to Announce Results of COMBINE Study

UNM's CASAA one of 11 sites nationwide to participate in study

 

Who: UNM's Center on Alcohol, Substance Abuse and Addictions (CASAA) in conjunction with the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA)

What: To discuss results of nationwide COMBINE (Combining Medications and Behavioral Interventions for Alcoholism) study; results will appear in the May 3 issue of the Journal of American Medical Association in an article titled: Effect of Combined Pharmacotherapies and Behavioral Interventions for Alcohol Dependence

When: Tuesday, May 2, 2006, 4 p.m.

Where: CASAA, main building, 2650 Yale Blvd., S.E. Take Yale south from Gibson, turn left (east) at the next traffic light (Randolph). CASAA is about one block ahead with plenty of free parking available. Enter CASAA through rm. 100; receptionist will escort media to press conference area

Speakers: Dr. Bill Miller, principal investigator / UNM Distinguished Professor / Psychology; Dr. Michael Bogenschutz, associate professor; Psychiatry; Dr. Kamilla Venner, research assistant professor, Psychology; Dr. Lisa Arciniega, coordinator, Substance Use Disorders Treatment Program, Albuquerque VAMC; and Dr. Michael Dougher, professor, Psychology, and director, CASAA.
