Honor is One of the Highest the University Can Bestow on Faculty
Professor of Biology Clifford Dahm will present the 52nd Annual Research Lecture at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2007, at the Science & Technology Park Rotunda, 801 University Blvd. SE. His lecture will focus on his over twenty years of research in the fields of restoration biology, biogeochemistry, microbial ecology, hydrology, climatology and aquatic ecology.
Dahm’s research emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches required for understanding aquatic ecosystems. He will discuss the constantly improving understanding of New Mexico water sources, the impacts of yearly variability in water supply for aquatic ecosystems, and why oceanography matters in this state. He will also talk about what researchers are learning about interactions between surface water, ground water and the interface between the two.
Dahm came to the University of New Mexico in 1984 as an assistant professor of biology. He is the director for the Freshwater Sciences Interdisciplinary Doctoral Program at UNM as well as a biology professor. He is also a member of the Science Steering Group for the Global Water Budget Program of the U.S. Global Change Research Program and is internationally known in his fields of study.
The event is free and open to the public.
