UNM Alumni Association Set to Honor Outstanding Alumni and Faculty
The UNM Alumni Association will bestow its four annual major awards to outstanding alumni and faculty on Thursday, Feb. 8, at the Hotel Albuquerque at Old Town. This year’s recipients include Judith Rogala, James F. Zimmerman Award; Warren J. Baker, Rodey Award; Jim Hinton, Erna S. Fergusson Award; and Leslie Donovan, INM Alumni Association Faculty Award.
Judith Rogala (’82 MBA)
Judith Rogala is the president and CEO of the Catapult Factor. Rogala moved to Catapult Factor, a leadership training organization, after serving as president of Aramark Uniform Services, executive vice president of Office Depot and senior vice president of Federal Express.
** The James F. Zimmerman Award is given to an alum of the university who has brought fame and honor to UNM or New Mexico.
Warren J. Baker (’66 Ph.D.)
Warren J. Baker has been the president of Cal Poly State University since 1979 and is a major proponent of science and math education in the United States.
** The Rodey Award is given to an individual who has devoted an unusual amount of time in a leadership capacity, and has contributed significantly to the field of education .
Jim Hinton(’81 BA)
Jim Hinton is the president/CEO of Presbyterian Healthcare Services. Since he began working at PHS in 1983, Hinton has helped to make significant improvements in healthcare in New Mexico.
** The Erna S. Fergusson Award is given for exceptional accomplishment or distinguished service to the University.
Leslie Donovan (’82 BA, ’86 MA)
Associate Professor of Honors Leslie Donovan is a medieval and Celtic scholar. Currently she chairs the UNM Student Publications Board and is a mentor to the Regents Scholars. She is also involved in numerous other campus activities.
** The UNM Alumni Association Faculty Award recognizes outstanding teaching and service to students.
