FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

UNM Presidential Candidate Forums on the Web

Four of the five candidates for the University of New Mexico’s 20th president have visited the campus for a series of interviews and open forums with faculty, staff, students and the community. More than 300 people have participated in gatherings with each of the finalists, according to UNM Regents President Jamie Koch. Though pleased with the turnout, Koch would like to have even more people participate in the process.

“UNM’s Faculty Senate and Staff Council arranged for their forums to be recorded and placed on the Web. So people who are not able to attend forums in person can still watch how each of the candidates interacts with faculty and staff,” said Koch.

Go to http://www.unm.edu/faculty.html to find the faculty forums and http://www.unm.edu/~stafcom/ for the staff forums. People are also encouraged to send comments on the candidates to search@unm.edu.

David J. Schmidly, President and System CEO of Oklahoma State University, will be the final candidate to visit UNM. His on-campus interviews are scheduled for next Tuesday, Feb. 13, with open forums for staff at 10:15 a.m., for faculty at 3:45 p.m. and for students at 5 p.m., all in SUB Ballroom B. His community forum will take place at 6 p.m. in the Rio Grande Ballroom of the Albuquerque Hilton, Menaul and University.
