Contact: Carolyn Gonzales 277-5920 April 4, 2008 UNM Symposium on Research Ethics and Conduct The University of New Mexico Office of the Vice President for Research & Economic Development and the UNM Health Sciences Center Office of Research host the UNM Symposium on Research Ethics and Conduct, Friday, April 18 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the Student Union Building Lobo rooms A&B. The symposium features presentations from different segments of the campus community and invited guests. The symposium brings together guests and the UNM community engaged in research and creative activities to learn about current ideas and issues on research ethics and responsible research conduct. University faculty, staff and students, and members of the community interested in ethical issues and conduct in research at UNM are invited. Topics include research integrity, human subjects, export control, conflicts of interest, copyrights and intellectual property, and a panel to answer questions from the audience. Special guest participants are Tracy Thompson, DVM, from the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, Animal Care, USDA Regional Office in Longmont, Colo., to speak on animal care and compliance; and John D. Tanberg, FBI special agent and counter-proliferation coordinator, Albuquerque Division, to speak on export control and universities. There is no registration fee, but attendees are encouraged to register to provide an estimate for seating and refreshments. The Web site is at: http://research.unm.edu/NewsEvents/register/ .
