Barela, 505-277-5299 April 28, 2008 Delgado Receives UNM's Raza Excellence Outstanding Student Award Renee Delgado, a native of Albuquerque, is the daughter of Deborah Baca-Mendez. She is a graduate of St. Pius X High School in and will earn her Bachelor’s of Science in Educational Psychology. Delgado is a candidate for Summa Cum Laude. She is also a recipient of the Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges 2007 award, the Hispanic Awards Association Scholarship 2007 and UNM Ronald E. McNair Research Scholar from 2006 to 2007. She had the opportunity to be a student presenter at the UC Berkeley Ronald E. McNair Symposium in 2007, where she presented her research topic: "How Greek Membership and ethnic identity affect gender ideology and dating behavior.” Demonstrating her web skills, Delgado developed a web online survey on the UNM web server, in which eighty students to date have participated in the survey for extra credit or community service. She is currently in the process of analyzing the data. Delgado is also a Psi Chi Psychology Honors Society member. The Raza Excellence Outstanding Student Award is given to students who have demonstrated an immense commitment to the Raza community and who have performed well academically. Delgado, along with three other Raza Excellence Outstanding Student Award recipients were good company at the ceremony as they shared the stage with over 30 other students honored for their excellence in education and community service. Congratulations to this entire group of students who makes UNM proud!
