Barela, 505-277-5299 April 28, 2008 Jaramillo Receives UNM's Alumni Citizenship Award Jaramillo, a native of Questa, NM is the daughter of Gary and Gail LaCome-Balzano and Fred Jaramillo Jr. She is a graduate of Questa High School and will earn her Bachelor’s of Arts in Political Science and Spanish. She studied at the University of Granada in Granada, Spain as well as at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. While attending UNM, Jessica was apart of the Associated Students of the University of New Mexico (ASUNM) where she served as Student Senator and Elections Commissioner. She was also a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, and has completed over 100+ hours of community service. She interned with Representative Roberto “Bobby” Gonzales at the New Mexico Legislature and currently interns in Senator Bingaman’s office. Jessica intends to apply to law school in the near future. The Alumni Citizenship Award is intended to recognize endeavor, helpfulness, good spirit, and cooperation, rather than to cap outstanding achievement. The award is given to a select number of seniors who have demonstrated outstanding leadership skills and have provided continued service to the University and the community. Jaramillo, along with five other Alumni Citizenship Award recipients were good company at the ceremony as they shared the stage with over 30 other students honored for their excellence in education and community service. Congratulations to this entire group of students who makes UNM proud! |
