UNM Hospital gains wired recognition

University of New Mexico Hospital has been named one of the top 100 wired hospitals in the United States for the fifth consecutive year by the American Hospital Association.

Most-wired hospitals use a wider array of information-technology tools, including computerized physician orders, bedside electronic medication matching, automated alerts and reminders, electronic patient surveillance and other techniques.

UNMH was also ranked third in the nation by Consumer Reports for providing conservative patient care in June.

Presbyterian Medical accredited

The Joint Commission has accredited Presbyterian Medical Services for its ambulatory care and behavioral health services.

The commission, a nonprofit health care standards-setting group, awarded PMS its Gold Seal of Approval for those two areas because of their "continuous operational improvement," said Michael Kulczcki, executive director of the Joint Commission's Ambulatory Care Accreditation Program.

PMS is a New Mexico nonprofit that provides health care services to predominantly rural areas.
