2. Voters May Decide Property Tax Hike (Rio Rancho Journal)

Sandoval County commissioners are scheduled to consider a decision that could affect the scope of health care services within the county.

Commissioners will decide at their Thursday meeting whether to put a question on the November ballot asking for a property tax increase to support health care service providers.

3. KNME Names General Manager (Albuquerque Journal)

Polly Anderson, a public broadcasting veteran now serving as president and CEO of KWBU-TV & FM in Waco, Texas, has been named general manager and CEO of KNME-TV in Albuquerque.

Anderson will begin her duties at KNME on Sept. 22. She replaces Ted Garcia, who is now senior vice president in charge of TV content for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

"I am very excited about the opportunity to come to Albuquerque and to continue the high standards that have been set by KNME over their 50 years of service," Anderson said in a news release. "The communities of northern New Mexico deserve the very best that public broadcasting has to offer, and I look forward to continuing that tradition and to further the mission of education, entertainment and inspiration that are central to the services offered by KNME."

Anderson has a bachelor's in business administration and marketing from the University of South Florida.

6. Lobo Could Miss Time (Albuquerque Journal)

University of New Mexico football coach Rocky Long says starting defensive end Phillip Harrison could miss playing time if his legal issue is not resolved by the season opener.

Harrison, a junior who graduated from Highland High School, and two of his roommates were arrested on felony charges of contributing to the delinquency of minors in the early morning of July 27.

8. ABQ Ride Will Charge for Transfers To Stem Abuse (Albuquerque Journal)

ABQ Ride will start charging passengers to use a bus transfer in an effort to eliminate fraud and abuse, transit officials say.

Riders can still request a transfer, but they will be charged 50 cents starting Aug. 16 when they use it to board a bus. The transfer slip will be valid for two hours, which is the case now.
