Junior Achievement awarded $20k
Junior Achievement of New Mexico was awarded a $20,000 grant from The Allstate Foundation to help expand the JA Hispanic Initiative across the state, with a focus on southern New Mexico.
The program provides Hispanic youth with the foundations of the Junior Achievement curriculum via culturally specific lessons presented by "Hispanic role models who inspire them to dream big and reach their full potential," according to a news release.
The grant will enable the program to reach out to 800 students, who will learn about financial topics as they prepare to enter the work force.
"This funding will alow us to continue providing more Hispanic youth with hands-on programs and culturally relevant lesson enhancements," said Kevin R. Hattery, president of Junior Achievement of New Mexico. "The JA Hispanic Initiative is a financial literacy program that provides Hispanic students with an understanding of the relevancy of education to their future quality of life."
"The Allstate Foundation recognizes and appreciates JA of New Mexico's dedication to diversity by providing Hispanic youth with economic empowerment and the positive role models that help them realize their full potential," said the Foundation's Melissa Stoloff.
