New Mexico's average scores on the ACT college entrance exam inched up for a fourth consecutive year, although scores nationwide dipped slightly. Graduates from New Mexico high schools in 2008 earned an average ACT composite score of 20.3, up from 20.2 last year, 20.1 in 2006 and 20 in 2005 on a scale of 1 to 36, the state Public Education Department said Wednesday.
