UNM Fact sheet on Compressed Work Week for Summer 2008

In a move that can save interested staff as much as 20% on commute costs this summer, UNM is offering staff members the option of working a compressed work week.

  • Full time staff members will be offered the option of a compressed work week beginning
    June, 16, 2008 and ending August 15, 2008.
  • Workdays will be extended to 10-hour days for employees using the program.
  • There will be some limitations on the opportunity for the Health Sciences Center. More
    information on HSC summer hours will be issued from the Executive Vice President for
    Health Sciences Center office.
  • UNM offices will remain open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Employees
    may be asked to take alternating days off.
  • Individual work hours will be determined by department managers. Employees will be
    required to take a one-half or one hour unpaid meal break during the work day.
  • In observance of Independence Day, employees will work regular shifts the week of
    June 30, 2008, with the holiday observed on Friday, July 4, 2008.
  • The program is optional, as some employees may not be able to extend their workday
    due to family care issues. Whenever possible, managers are encouraged to allow
    employees this opportunity during the summer.
