Video and Photo Opportunities at UNM, Feb. 2-6

Monday, Feb. 2
A flag-raising ceremony kicks off Black History Month. Students will meet at African American Student Services in Mesa Vista Hall at 11 a.m. and then walk to Scholes Hall for the flag-raising.

Wednesday, Feb. 4
Maxwell Museum presents Oven & Fry Bread Day. The Edaakies of Isleta Pueblo will give a bread baking demonstration outside the Maxwell Museum, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

Thursday, Feb. 5
UNM Press presents “Advocates for the Gila.” Some of New Mexico’s strongest advocates for the Gila River, author of “Gila Libre!” M.H. Salmon and authors of “Free Flow” Jan Haley and Carol Sinor, will give a reading and book-signing at Bookworks, 4022 Rio Grande Blvd. N.W., 7-8:30 p.m. Contact Katherine MacGilvray at katm@unm.edu or 272-7177 or call Bookworks at 344-8139.

Friday, Feb. 6
UNM-West hosts a ground breaking ceremony for the first building at UNM’s new Rio Ranch Campus, 1:30-3 p.m. The construction site is located northeast of Rio Rancho City Hall, 3001 Civic Center N.E., Rio Rancho, N.M. 87144.
