Repeat Town Hall on insurance set for Feb. 18

The UNM Department of Human Resources will sponsor a second Town Hall Monday, Feb.18, from 10 a.m. to noon in room 105, Health Sciences and Services building on North Campus.

The Town Hall is a repeat of the Jan. 29 presentation.

Susan Carkeek, associate vice president and director of human resources, will discuss potential changes in UNM medical insurance plans.

All faculty and staff are invited to attend. An article recently published in Campus News and the Powerpoint presentation for the Town Hall Meeting is available on the Human Resources website at

Expert to speak on China's WTO entry

The UNM Anderson Schools of Management will present a lecture on “China’s Entry in the World Trade Organization (WTO): What it Really Means,” by Peter Walters, professor and head of the Dept. of Business Studies at Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Thursday, Feb. 21, at 7 a.m. at Cont. Education, rm. H.

China’s entry into the WTO has implications for many industries. Walters, an international business expert, has resided in Hong Kong since 1994, allowing him a close look at China’s economic processes in the global economy. His lecture will include implications for New Mexico businesses interested in marketing to China.

There is a $20 fee. A buffet breakfast is included. Advance reservations are required.

Continuing Ed offers HR program in new format

The Human Resource Management Program offered through UNM Continuing Education has a new format.
The focus will be on Human Resource topics essential to the 21st century work place.

Courses are underway and will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursdays through May 2 at UNM Continuing Education, 1634 University Blvd. NE. For more information, call 277-9250.
