Donald McRae, College of Fine Arts (CFA) dean emeritus, died Feb. 3.
McRae spent the greater part of his professional life at UNM, starting with
his education. He earned his BFA in music from UNM in 1948 and MA in musicology
in 1949, the same year he began teaching at the University.
From 1951-55 he continued graduate studies and taught at the University of California, Los Angeles. He returned to UNM in 1955 and remained here for the rest of his career rising to the rank of professor in 1976. He served as CFA dean from 1978 until his retirement in 1986. McRae was an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Albuquerque for 22 years.
