Notables
Dan Bureau, student activities advisor, received the Gayle Webb New
Professional Award from the Association of Fraternity Advisors at the North
American interfraternity conference annual meeting held recently. The award
is given to an individual who has exhibited high professional standards and
achievements in men's and women's fraternity advising during the first three
years of professional level employment.
The association represents more than 1,100 fraternity and sorority professionals from United States and Canada.

Robert Glew, Ph.D, professor in the department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the UNM School of Medicine, has been awarded the Paul Brindley Distinguished Professorship in Pathology by the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. The honor recognizes academic excellence in the study of pathology.

Cindy Gaillard, KNME-TV producer, was recently honored by the National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA) for her documentary Gustave Baumann: Hands of a Craftsman, Heart of an Artist. The program, originally broadcast last winter, won second place in the documentary/biography category at NETAs annual program competition held in Savannah, Ga. recently.

Alex C. Spyropoulos, MD, clinical assistant professor
at HSC, has been elected a Fellow of the American College of Physicians -- American
Society of Internal Medicine (ACP - ASIM), the society of internists. This distinction
recognizes achievements in internal medicine, the specialty of adult medical
care.
Spyropoulos is an internist practicing as a hospitalist in Albuquerque. He is currently teaching a course at HSC in clinical thrombosis.
