Women's Expo features variety of local businesses, organizations
The third annual Womens Expo, featuring Albuquerque businesswomen, will
join together to display what their respective businesses have to offer as part
of the Brigham Young-New Mexico womens basketball game at The Pit on Feb.
3.
A variety of organizations and businesses will set up tables and displays on
the concourse of The Pit and will offer information, samples, and brochures
promoting their wares to all fans who wish to participate in the festivities.
The Womens Expo begins at 5:30 p.m. and runs throughout the game.
The Womens Expo has been a big draw since its inception. Last year, more
than 11,000 fans turned out. UNM Athletics Department officials are hoping to
attract upwards of 15,000 fans for this years event.
We want people to come out to the womens basketball game, but we
also want to show them what women in the community are doing since many of the
fans are women. said Marie Baker, marketing assistant in the Athletics
Department. The ultimate goal, in addition to showcasing the organizations
and businesses participating, is to bring in 15,000 fans.
More than 30 Albuquerque-area businesses and organizations plan to participate in the Womens Expo including UNM Continuing Education, UNM Resource Center, She Sport, Westside Womens Wellness, Womens Community Association, Albuquerque Womens Resource Center, Coast Guard, Acupuncture Garden, Girl Scouts, Planned Parenthood and more.
