NIH grant to help build biomedical center at HSC
Funds from a five-year, $9.6 million Institutional Delopment Award from the
National Institutes of Health (NIH) will help establish an NIH Center of Biomedical
Research Excellence. The grant, obtained by Dr. Yoshio Okada of the UNM School
of Medicine will help the Health Sciences Center construct a state-of-the art
neuroimaging facility for brain research.
The new facility will complement neuroimaging facilities at the UNM Clinical Magnetic Resonance Research Center and the Veteran's Administration Medical Center to make Albuquerque one of the premier sites for neuroimaging research in the country. Construction will begin in late summer.
