Linda Cotton to perform at picnic
Tickets on sale mid-June at various outlets
Linda Cotton is back by popular demand to provide entertainment for the Ninth
Annual Staff Picnic at the Rio Grande Zoo scheduled for Saturday, July 21, from
6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The picnic, organized by the Staff Council Rewards and Recognition Committee
and the Department of Human Resources, is designed to celebrate our great
staff and recognize the contributions staff make to the Universitys success,
says Susan Carkeek, associate vice president/director of Human Resources.
Its a great opportunity to enjoy the zoo, relax with family and
co-workers, have some great food and meet employees from around campus,
she adds.
As in past years, the menu will consist of hamburgers, hotdogs and all the
fixins, including beans, potato salad and cookies. In addition,
veggie burgers will be provided for staff who make that request
when they purchase their tickets.
There will be a magic show in the Nature Theater at 8 p.m., after the zoo animals
have been put to bed. Clowns, face painters and jugglers will add to the evenings
festivities.
Free massages by certified massage therapists will also be available.
Door prizes, including a one-year parking permit donated by UNM Parking Services for UNM staff, will be drawn at approximately 8 p.m. at the band shell. Staff must be present to win.
Admission ticket wristbands can be purchased for $2 each at the UNM ticket
outlets at University Arena (the Pit), the Health Sciences Center
cashiers office on the ground floor of the Basic Medical Science Building
and the UNM Bookstore beginning in mid-June. Children under 3 are free.
Tickets will also be made available to staff at all UNM branch campuses and
education centers.
In addition to admission to the zoo and its exhibits, the wristband entitles
the holder to the all-you-can-eat picnic buffet and live entertainment.
As in past years, UNM Parking and Transportation Services will provide courtesy shuttles between a UNM lot and the zoo.
