Science showcased at CAS workshop
The Center for Advanced Studies conducts its annual workshop May 10-11 in Regener Hall.
The event showcases the scientific accomplishments of CAS members who are from UNM science departments and the local community. Visit http://panda.unm.edu/CAS/CAS.html for information and to register.
Summer Walking Tours begin June 6
The University Communications/Marketing Department offers 11 Summer Walking Tours. Most of the tours are Wednesdays from June 6 through August 15.
Gary Smith, manager of Grounds and Landscaping, offers seven Arboretum tours. Joe McKinney, University Planner, facilitates other several tours -- one featuring the evolution of campus buildings, and others exploring museums, galleries and libraries. Call 277-1889 or email evsanch@unm.edu
KUNM named 2000 Station of the Year
The Associated Press (AP) named KUNM station of the year for 2000.
Other KUNM awards included in general news, first place for Border Women Murders, Kent Paterson; third place, Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament; Eulynda Toledo Benalli.
In the newscasts category, second place Marcos Martinez, John Doyle, Kristie Ulibarri, Kenna Josephene, Ron Chapman, Joe Gardner Wessely, Tristan Clum.
In documentary, first place for Fire on the Mountain: Timber Trade and Terror in Mexico, Kent Paterson; second place for Pepsi Contract Carilyn Rome; third place, Homeless Teens, Kristie Ulibarri.
For public service; third place, Alternatives to Flu Vaccine, Kristie Ulibarri; for continuing coverage, second place, Cerro Grande Fire, Tom Trowbridge, Paul Ingles, Leslie Clark.
