Gilbert Merkx, director of the Latin American and Iberian Institute, was recently honored at Zimmerman Library for his support of library Latin American initiatives. Merkx, at UNM 30 years, leaves in June for Duke University while remaining professor emeritus.

The School of Engineering recently honored six distinguished UNM graduates from around the world as Alumni of the Year. From left: Joseph L. Cecchi, interim dean; Nasir Ahmed, Albuquerque; James E. Pat Ross, left, of Academic Affairs, presents Roseann Willink, Linguistics, with a gift in recognition of her 20 years of service to UNM. Human Resources recently honored individuals with 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 years of service to the institution at an event held at Continuing Education.

Lori Gallegos (right), Career Services development facilitator at the new Engineering Satellite Office, and Leslye A. Ellison, director of Career Services assisted with the opening of the first ever Career Services satellite office.

Ralph C. Williams, M.D. will be displaying "A Doctor’s Dilemma - Science or Art?," at UNM Hospital 5th Floor Gallery May 8 to July 31. An opening for his show, will be held May 22 from 4 to 6 p.m.
