Gift policy up for review
Vice President for Business and Finance Julie Weaks and the UNM Executive Cabinet
ask faculty, staff and students to take time to review and comment on a proposed
policy statement 7110 Gifts of Tangible Personal Property. Individuals
and organizations many times wish to donate tangible personal property to the
University and although their generosity and support are appreciated, such gifts
must be evaluated to ensure acceptance is in the best interests of the University.
In deciding whether or not a proposed gift should be accepted, the University
should take into consideration associated operating costs, expertise required
to utilize the gift, condition of the gift, whether the gift poses any health
or safety risk(s) and other pertinent issues.
The University has developed a proposed policy statement that defines the process for obtaining approval to accept gifts of tangible personal property from individuals or organizations. Your comments are requested by Nov. 5 and should be sent to Vice
President Weaks office or via e-mail to ubppm@unm.edu. The policy draft is available to UNM faculty, staff and students accessing the UNM web page through UNM computers. The site URL is http://www.unm.edu/~ubppm/ubpoffice/7110mem.htm
