Free Spanish class offered to faculty, staff
Faculty and staff can still register for a free Spanish class this semester at the Latin American and Iberian Institute.
Students at all skill levels are welcome to register for the class, which meets Tuesdays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. through December.

UNM sponsors debate on Native sovereignty
KUNM radio and the UNM School of Law will sponsor a debate on Native American Sovereignty Monday, Sept. 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the Continuing Education Conference Center.
Former Bureau of Indian Affairs Director Kevin Gover and Executive Director of the Conference of Western Attorneys General Tom Gede will field questions.
The debate will be aired around the country on the National Public Radio program Justice Talking in the fall.
The event is free and open to the public.
Nursing offers first full online programs
Registered nurses throughout New Mexico will have the opportunity to obtain their baccalaureate degree in nursing via the internet beginning this fall.
In August, the College of Nursing launched two technology-based educational programs for nurses -- the first complete programs available on-line from UNM.
The Master of Science in nursing administration is also attainable online.

High School seniors have day on campus
UNM will host Senior Day to introduce high school seniors to campus life on Saturday, Sept. 15 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., offering tours and information on everything from admission and financial aid to academic programs and student activities.
Traditionally, we host more than 800 prospective students and their families, says Harold Pope, associate director of UNM Recruitment Services.
