Health Sciences Center awards first certificates in health care ethics

UNM’s Health Sciences Ethics Program awarded its first “Certificate in Health Care Ethics” to 10 program participants in June. The next award ceremony is planned for November. Approximately 20 people will be certified.

Participants included physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, professors and graduate students, and others, both from the University and the community. The certificate is awarded for successful completion of two eight-week modules. Participants also design and present a final project.

Faculty for the program include senior scholars and professionals from UNM’s School of Medicine, Law School and Institute of Public Law, Department of Psychology, New Mexico State Government and practitioners in private practice.

Enrollment for the program is ongoing. New classes begin every September and January. The UNM tuition reimbursement covers all program costs for faculty and staff enrolled in the Certificate Program.
