Video and Photo Opportunities at UNM

Wednesday, Dec. 7

9 a.m. – 5 p.m. 
UNM Digital Media Garage Grand Opening: The Digital Media Garage is an interdepartmental space to explore intersections between art, science, technology and business. Facilities will include an experimental dome, visualization/perception lab and experimental “black box” with a full-corner green screen, motion-capture system and advanced lighting system. Grand opening events at 1601 Central Ave. NE include a VIP ribbon cutting ceremony and tours 9 -11:30 a.m. and free public tours and demonstrations 3:30 – 5 p.m. All events are open to the media. An Evening with Navajo Code Talkers concludes a series of events celebrating the 35th anniversary of Navajo/Diné language instruction at UNM in the Hibben Center foyer. Speakers include Bill Toledo, one of the original 20 code talkers, Samuel Smith, Joe Price and Samuel Sandoval. 7:30 p.m. 
The UNM Chorus will perform Carl Orff's masterwork Carmina Burana in Popejoy Hall, UNM Center for the Arts. Orloff's pulse-pounding work depicts chaos, darkness and recklessness in a mythical time full of lovers, drunkards, heroes, scoundrels, flowers and fair maidens. UNM Press authors will be at the UNM Bookstore signing copies of their latest books. Authors include V.B. This event is part of the UNM Bookstore's Student, Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day.
