Sept. 13, 2002 Bernalillo native Gallegos receives American Gypsum Scholarship University of New Mexico student Megan Gallegos has received a $2,500 scholarship from American Gypsum Company. Gallegos, a 2002 graduate of Bernalillo High School and daughter of Ray and Sharon Gallegos, will be studying engineering at UNM. Gallegos said she is thankful for the scholarship and the encouragement from American Gypsum. Ray Barnes, plant manager for American Gypsum, said he is grateful that the company was able to provide the scholarship. “We are proud that we are able to support Megan with her educational endeavors,” Barnes said. “It is nice to give something back to the community.” American Gypsum, a full-line producer of gypsum board products, has plants located in Albuquerque, Bernalillo, Colorado and Oklahoma. ###
