Oct. 7, 2002 UNM GRADUATE STUDENT SELECTED TO STUDY IN PARIS University of New Mexico College of Education (COE) doctoral student
Anselmo Torres-Arizmendi has been selected from 480 candidates worldwide
to study at the International Institute for Education Planning in Paris,
France. Arizmendi received a $25,000 grant and will be enrolled in the Advanced
Training Programme in Educational Planning and Management Sept. 30 through
May 2003. The institute teaches the most current techniques and methodologies
of educational planning. The Universidad Autonoma del Estado de Morelos, Mexico, submitted Arizmendi's
name for consideration. Professor Rebecca Blum Martinez of the COE Department
of Language, Literacy and Sociocultural Studies, his doctoral chair, said
Arizmendi is "an extraordinary young educator." "Many policy makers have disassociated themselves from everyday, educational realities and the people who work in them. Anselmo is not one of those people. He works hard at converting the theories he has learned to praxis, and he never forgets whom, ultimately, he is trying to serve," Blum Martinez said. ### |
