October 8, 2002 UNM celebrates Homecoming Oct. 21-26
The festivities begin on Monday, Oct. 21 when UNM students will participate
in inflatable games at Zimmerman Plaza and in a residence hall decorating
contest. On Tuesday, students will participate in chalk mural competition
at the UNM Bookstore Homecoming party. Students vote on the UNM Homecoming royalty Wednesday, Oct. 23. The Lobo Howl, along with other games that are all a part
of the Cherry/Silver Spirit Cup competition, is set for Thursday, Oct.
24. The induction of the Class of 1952 into the Heritage Club will be
the highlight of the Heritage Club dinner at the Albuquerque Petroleum
Club at 6 p.m. on Thursday. The All Sports Pep Rally is set for Friday, Oct. 25, from noon to 1 p.m.
at the Duck Pond. In addition, the unveiling of the 2002 Homecoming Court
will occur at the rally. The Lobo Scoot n Boogie takes place on Friday from
8 to 11 p.m. at the Southwest Fiesta Tent in the northeast corner of University
Stadium. The event includes a western costume contest, live country and
popular style band and free food. Events for Saturday, Oct. 26 include the All University Breakfast, UNM
Alumni Lettermens Tailgate Party, Southwest Fiesta and the ninth
annual UNM Alumni Association Silent Auction. Other highlights for homecoming include the annual UNM faculty and staff
alumni luncheon, affinity group reunions, various student activities,
