UNM SCIENCE TALK FOCUSES ON TRANSPORTATION TECHNOLOGY

Aviva Brecher, national expert at the Volpe National Transportation Systems Center in Cambridge, Mass., will present "Bringing Magnetic Levitation Trains to USA: Technology and Policy Changes" at the University of New Mexico, Thursday, Oct. 24 at 5 p.m. in the UNM Continuing Education Conference Center, Room G, 1634 University Blvd., NE.

Brecher is one of five national experts in safety, health and environment. She also has extensive teaching, research and technical experience in academia, business and government.

Brecher's work includes a broad range of topics such as physics instruction, lunar and planetary exploration, the future of global air traffic control environment, assessing and managing radiation exposure risk in transportation, safety analysis and regulatory development for magley and high-speed rail and technical consulting.

The talk is sponsored by the UNM Chapter of Sigma Xi, the scientific research society and is co-sponsored by the Sigma Xi Headquarters, the Office of the Vice Presidents for Research and for Health Sciences, School of Engineering, College of Pharmacy, Arts and Sciences, Physics and Astronomy, Division of Continuing Education and the Albuquerque Section of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers.

Admission to the presentation is free and no reservations are necessary. Refreshments will be served at 4:30 p.m.
