Oct. 21, 2002 UNM SPONSORS AFRICAN AMERICAN STUDENT DAY African American junior and senior high school students will learn the
ins and outs of higher education at the University of New Mexico's African
American Student Day Wednesday, Nov. 6, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Keller
Hall, Center for the Arts. The event is hosted by UNM's Office of Recruitment Services, African
American Student Services and student organizations. Information sessions will cover the admissions process, scholarships,
financial aid, tutoring and student life. Academic department representatives
will be on hand. UNM officials will speak reflecting on this year's theme "And Still
We
Rise. "Planning early means eliminating the worry about getting the right
classes, paying for books or where to live," said Harold Pope, Recruitment
