UNM SPONSORS AFRICAN AMERICAN STUDENT DAY

African American junior and senior high school students will learn the ins and outs of higher education at the University of New Mexico's African American Student Day Wednesday, Nov. 6, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Keller Hall, Center for the Arts.

The event is hosted by UNM's Office of Recruitment Services, African American Student Services and student organizations.

Information sessions will cover the admissions process, scholarships, financial aid, tutoring and student life. Academic department representatives will be on hand.

UNM officials will speak reflecting on this year's theme "And Still…We Rise.

"Planning early means eliminating the worry about getting the right classes, paying for books or where to live," said Harold Pope, Recruitment Services associate director.

More than 300 students are expected to attend.
