October 23, 2002 ANDERSON SCHOOLS WELCOME INTERNATIONALLY-RECOGNIZED INVESTMENT BANKER The Robert O. Anderson Schools of Management (ASM) at UNM will feature a lecture by David Barnes, national director of the Private Equity Coverage Group at Houlihan Lokey Howard and Zukin Investment Bankers. The lecture is slated for Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002 at 12:15 p.m. in room 1065 at the ASM. Barnes will speak on the current trends and levels of activity of middle market mergers and acquisitions (M&A). He specializes in executing middle market M&A sellside transactions on behalf of private equity firms and entreprenuers. Previously he was the vice president of Strategic Planning for Protection One, Inc., the second-largest life safety and property monitoring company in the world. Barnes was responsible for the formulation and execution of the company’s strategic direction and executed more than 40 M&A transactions, joint ventures and asset divestitures at Protection One. Barnes was also the director in charge of investment banking services at Coopers & Lybrand Securities L.L.C. Barnes spent three years in principal investing with Brentwood Associates and Hancock Park Associates, two Los Angeles-based private equity firms specializing in management-led leveraged buyout and venture capital. He received his B.A. in Sociology and Economics, cum laude, from Harvard University and MBA from the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA. The lecture is free and open to the public.
