October 23, 2002 UNM HOSTS CONGRESSIONAL FORUM A U.S. Congressional Forum on national smart growth policies and current
transportation legislation will be held at the University of New Mexico
Continuing Education Center Auditorium, 1634 University Blvd. NE, on Saturday,
Oct. 26, from 10 a.m. to noon. Congressman Tom Udall, D-N.M., and Congressman Earl Blumenauer, D-Ore.,
will speak about the importance of local efforts to further smart growth
as well as what New Mexico could lose, or gain, in the reauthorization
of the federal transportation spending bill, the Transportation Equity
Act for the 21st Century in 2003. The event is sponsored by the UNM Alliance for Transportation Research
Institute, 1000 Friends of New Mexico, the Surface Transportation Policy
Project and the Great American Station Foundation. Congressman Blumenauer will be interviewed at KUNM on Friday, Oct. 25, at 2 p.m. He is also available for other interviews on Friday, Oct. 25, and Saturday, Oct. 26. ### |
