LOS LUNAS NATIVE NAMED TO UNM SCHOOL OF LAW DEAN'S LIST

Aaron KuglerAaron Kugler of Los Lunas, N.M., a member of the University of New Mexico School of Law Class of 2004, is on the dean's list for spring semester.

Kugler is the son of Mary Helen and Randall Kugler. He graduated from Los Lunas High School in 1995.

Kugler made UNM his choice of higher education for both undergraduate work and law school. He graduated from the UNM with a B.A. in both English and Psychology.

Last semester, he assisted the finance committee of the Graduate and Professional Student Association. Kugler has also assisted the judiciary committee and graduate research development committee with drafting new legislation. He is currently vying for the student regent position on the UNM Board of Regents.

Kugler involved himself with law before he entered law school. He worked for D. Rusch Gathings, a general practice attorney in Albuquerque. But he has also busied himself with legal research working for various law professors through the Library Research Pool. He is currently applying for several clerkships for summer 2003.

Family has been very influential in Kugler's life, but he believes that in addition to family, his sixth grade teacher at Daniel Fernandez Elementary has much to do with his current success.

"One person who made a tremendous difference in my academic achievement is Priscilla Fernandez. She was my sixth grade teacher. She was an educator of exceptional ability," he said, "She had a way of making any child feel capable."

Besides attaining the dean's list for spring 2002, Kugler also boasts the longest putt award for the 2002 Mexican American Law Students Association 3rd Annual Golf Tournament.

Students who attain the dean's list at the UNM school of Law have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher during a semester in which 12 or more credit hours are earned, of which 9 are graded.
