November 4, 2002 URBAN AND ENVIRONMENTAL EXPERT TO PRESENT AT UNM Andrew Hurley, associate professor of history at the University of Missouri-St.
Louis, will present, "Using Public History to Stimulate Neighborhood
Revitalization: The View From St. Louis," Thursday, Nov. 14 at 5:30
p.m. in Northrup Hall, Room 122, on the University of New Mexico campus. Hurley is an expert on urban and environmental issues in post-World War
II America. He is the author of "Environmental Inequalities: Class,
Race, And Industrial Pollution In Gary, Indiana, 1945-1980)" and
"Diners, Bowling Alleys, And Trailer Parks: Chasing The American
Dream In Postwar Consumer Culture." He has also edited "Common
Fields: An Environmental History Of St. Louis." Hurley received his
doctorate from Northwestern University in 1988. The lecture is sponsored by the UNM Center for the Southwest, the Hewlett Foundation, School of Architecture and Planning and KUNM 89.9 FM. For more information call 277-7688. ### |
