Nov. 7, 2002 MARTINEZ FREUDIGER NAMED UNM'S OEO DIRECTOR University of New Mexico President F. Chris Garcia today announced the
appointment of Doralia Martinez Freudiger as director of UNM's Office
of Equal Opportunity effective January 13, 2003. "We are very pleased that Ms. Martinez Freudiger has accepted the
position. She brings an impressive record of experience along with a breadth
and depth of skills and abilities. We look forward to her contributions
on campus," Garcia said. Martinez Freudiger has served as the Deputy Director of the Equal Employment
Opportunity Staff for the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C.,
since 1994. Prior to that, she served in a number of federal Equal Employment
Opportunity positions for seventeen years. She has served as a senior EEO Program Manager in various federal agencies
where she has had responsibility for programs serving women, Hispanic,
Asian Pacific American and American Indian affirmative employment concerns.
Early in her career she worked in the Washington, D.C., community as a
professional social worker. She was one of four finalists selected in a UNM national search process
that began last March. She succeeds OEO Interim Director Theresa Ramos,
who has served in that capacity for nearly two years. Martinez Freudiger earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Puerto Rico in Rio Piedras in 1969 and her Master of Social Work degree from the Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C., in 1971. # # # |
