UNM CHEMISTRY DEPARTMENT, GRADUATE STUDENT ASSOCIATION
TO PRESENT MAGIC SHOW

The University of New Mexico chemistry department, along with the Chemistry Graduate Student Association, will sponsor a magic show Saturday, Nov. 23 in room 101 at Clark Hall on campus. Shows are scheduled for 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.

The purpose of the magic show is to increase interest in the sciences for children of all ages and to demonstrate that science can be a fun and an educational area of study. Some of the tricks and demonstrations include flaming bubbles, luminol, slime, freezing various items in liquid nitrogen, CO2 lantern consisting of molten magnesium in a block of dry ice and the screaming/flaming gummi bear - a crowd favorite.

Additionally, there will be flames, explosions, hands on experiments and explanations of the demonstrations. The shows contain some explosive demonstrations and parental supervision is encouraged.

Graduates and undergraduates in the chemistry department will participate in the show. Clark Hall is located southwest of Mitchell Hall. The magic show is free of charge and snacks will be provided. For more information call the chemistry department at 277-6655.
