Nov. 18, 2002 SUINA TO BE HONORED AT LIBRARY Joseph Suina, associate professor, University of New Mexico College of
Education, will receive the Faculty Acknowledgement Award from the UNM
General Library on Thursday, Nov. 21, at 3 p.m. in Zimmerman Library's
Willard Reading Room. This award recognizes Suina and other faculty from across campus who
excel in academic productivity. Suina is an advocate of Native American education and has produced several
published works addressing the education of Pueblo children. His presentation during the award ceremony "Conflict, Confusion,
and Astonishment" relates his personal teaching experiences. Currently, Suina serves as a Tribal Council member for Cochiti Pueblo, Cochiti Community Development Corporation, University of California - Pueblo Indian Education Committee; a board member for the New Mexico Endowment for the Humanities and on the New Mexico Holocaust and Intolerance Museum board. ### |
