December 2, 2002 UNM KAPPA DELTA PI HONOR SOCIETY HOSTS HOLIDAY GALA The UNM Kappa Delta Pi, Rho Delta Chapter 412, is celebrating a Holiday
Gala at University House Monday, Dec. 9, 2002 from 1 to 4 p.m. The Holiday
Gala will include a general membership meeting, initiation ceremony and
a 'trim the tree' affair for fund-raising. The chapter will initiative ten new members at the event. The new initiates
are Gabrielle Bassow, Betty Butler, Krystal Wood, Sara Oliveira, Marie
Duryea, Nicole Morgan, Keely Louise Mackey-Gonzales, Elba Saavedra, Patricia
Hanson and Diana Padilla. Kappa Delta Pi has a membership of 63,000 educators from the United States,
England, Canada and Australia. It is recognized as a professional development
organization of 60,000 members belonging to 550 chapters in the United
States and more than 90 other countries. Membership in Kappa Delta Pi
is by invitation only and members must meet high academic and leadership
standards to be initiated. Kappa Delta Pi is an international honor society in education. The organization
is the oldest educational honor society in America and its membership
includes the top 10 percent of college students in teacher education programs,
university faculty, classroom teachers, school administrators, National
State Teachers of the Year, Golden Apple Award winners and education retirees.
