UNM STUDENT RECEIVES JOHN RODOLPH SCHOLARSHIP

Margaret Stevenson, originally from Ontario, Canada has received the John Rodolph Scholarship at the University of New Mexico. Stevenson is majoring in civil engineering.

The scholarship, in the amount of $750, is funded through the Society of American Military Engineers - Albuquerque Post. The New Mexico Engineering Foundation (NMEF) administers the scholarship. The Scholarship is in memory of John Rodolph, Carl’s son, who was killed in an auto accident in 1995.

The scholarship was presented at a ceremony in Tapy Hall on the UNM campus. Present at the ceremony were Carl Rodolph, father of John Rodolph; Leon Stepp, president of Society of American Military Engineers - Albuquerque Post; Hank Rosoff, scholarship chairman Society of American Military Engineers -Albuquerque Post; Jane Brogan, scholarship committee chairman - New Mexico Engineering Foundation.

“This scholarship meant a lot to me because I have had a disability this past semester and I had to perservere with my studies,” said Stevenson. “My thyroid cancer was diagnosed last spring and I had my whole thyroid removed. This imbalance of thyroid hormones slowed my thought processes and dulled my memory. Therefore, I am very touched and honored to have received the John Rodolph Scholarship because of his courage in the face of adversity.”
