February 26, 2003 NOMINATIONS DUE FOR OUTSTANDING TEACHING AWARDS The Center for the Advancement of Scholarship in Teaching and Learning
(CASTL) and the Teaching Enhancement Committee (TEC) announce a call for
nominations for the 2003 Teaching Awards, the 2002-2003 Outstanding Teacher
of the Year Award and Adjunct Faculty and Lecturer Teaching Award. Deadline for nominations is Wednesday, March 5. All tenured and tenure-track faculty are eligible for the 2002-2003 Outstanding
Teacher of the Year Award (TOYA), established to recognize and reward
teaching excellence and to foster a campus climate that supports teaching
improvement and Accomplishments. Two faculty will be selected for this
award. All adjunct faculty and lecturers who have taught consistently at UNM
for at least four years are eligible for the 2002-2003 Adjunct Faculty
and Lecturer Teaching Awards (ATOYA). This recently established award
recognizes and rewards the tremendous contributions of non-tenure track
faculty in the classroom. One award will be granted. Colleagues, students or alumni may submit nominations. Nominations for both the TOYA and ATOYA should be submitted on the CASTL
Web site at http://www.unm.edu/~castl. All current teaching assistants/associates are eligible for the 2002-2003
Outstanding Teaching Assistant Awards, designed to recognize and reward
teaching achievements of graduate students. The department chairperson
may submit nominations based upon one nomination for every ten department
teaching assistants. Nominees will be sent an official letter notifying them of their nomination
