Feb. 27, 2003 UNM HOSTS TALK ON IMMIGRANT ACCESS TO HEALTH CARE The University of New Mexico will host a forum "Health Care as a Human Right: Immigrant Health Access in New Mexico" Friday, Feb. 28, from noon to 1 p.m. at the UNM Hospital, 2nd floor Learning Center. Lunch will be provided. The Student Health Law Association and the UNM Health Sciences Center Bioethics Committee sponsor the event. Speakers will include: John Fogarty, M.D., M.P.H, UNM Dept. of Family Medicine, who will discuss "The United States and human rights treaties." Art Kaufman, M.D., UNM Dept. of Family Medicine," will speak about "Conflicts between systems/the search for solutions" and Javier Aceves, M.D., UNM Dept. of Pediatrics, will share "The perspective of the practitioner in an inner city clinic." Mirna Torres J.D., director for the Immigration Dept. of Catholic Charities, will talk about "Legal obstacles to immigrant health care." ###
