ANDERSON SCHOOLS NAMES OUTSTANDING FACULTY MEMBER

The Robert O. Anderson Schools of Management Foundation Board has selected Craig White as the 2003 honoree for the Community Leadership Award. White, an assistant professor in the Accounting Department at the University of New Mexico’s Anderson Schools of Management (ASM), was named this year’s outstanding faculty member based on his service to the community, teaching and research excellence.

“The Foundation Board is always pleased to honor faculty members who bring their expertise back into the community,” said Frank See, corporate strategic program manager for Intel and chair of the ASM Foundation Board’s Community Relations Committee. “While academic honors often focus exclusively on published articles, we like to recognize those people who make a point of enriching the community, both on a local level and a larger professional level. Dr. White demonstrates all the qualities that we look for in a faculty leader.”

White earned his Ph.D. from Texas Tech University and began teaching accounting classes at the ASM in 1998. Prior to entering academe, he worked for the international accounting firm Price Waterhouse in its Ft. Worth, Texas office. White’s activities at UNM include serving as the faculty advisor for the ASM’s chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, the national honor society for financial information professionals and the Schools’ volunteer income tax assistance program, board member and treasurer of Easter Seals New Mexico, team advisor for Technology Venture Corporation’s Equity Capital Symposium, and as resident faculty member at the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants National Tax Education Program held annually at the University of Illinois.

He will be recognized alongside three Anderson Schools’ alumni being inducted into the Hall of Fame including: Michelle Coons, president/CEO, Wells Fargo Bank Santa Fe; Gary L. Dushane, certified public accountant (CPA), partner KPMG LLP; and Edward J. Neff, CPA, retired partner,
Neff/Ricci LLP.

The 14th Annual Hall of Fame dinner will be held Thursday, April 3, at the Sheraton Old Town. The event begins with no-host cocktails at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m. Major sponsors for this year’s event are Wells Fargo Bank, Intel Corporation, Bank of the West, Charter Companies, KPMG LLP, PNM and Grant Thornton

Corporate table sponsorships are available at $1,000 for business and industry partners, and $600 for non-profit organizations. Individual tickets cost $75. To make reservations or to inquire about table sponsorships, call the ASM Development Office at (505) 277-0880 or e-mail mchale@mgt.unm.edu by Monday, March 31.

The Hall of Fame dinner is ASM’s most significant annual community event. The funds raised support student scholarships, faculty research and career placement activities. Last year’s event raised more than $50,000.
