ALAMOGORDO NATIVE TO FLY EXPERIMENT ON BOARD MICROGRAVITY KC-135

Alamogordo native Doug Reed (third from left) is among two groups of students from the University of New Mexico who will fly experiments on board the microgravity KC-135 airplane at Johnson Space Center, March 13-21 and April 10-18 after winning a national competition.

The students will investigate the effect of microgravity on physical phenomena. This year’s experiments are an examination of the effects of gravity on alpha particle ranges and the study of polymer spin-coating for photolighographic semiconductor development in space.

Read’s parents are David and Barbara Read from Alamogordo.
