LAW SCHOOL WOMEN'S CAUCUS PRESENTS GENDER CONFERENCE

The University of New Mexico School of Law Women's Law Caucus will present a conference exploring the topic: "A Gender Neutral Legal Society: fact or fiction?" Saturday, April 5 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the UNM School of Law, 1117 Stanford NE.

Expert speakers will address gender issues arising in tort, business, criminal, immigration and employment law.

The cost is $25 with CLE credits included. The UNM Feminist Research Institute and UNM Women's Resource Center are co-sponsoring to provide free entry for the first 30 UNM students, staff and faculty who register. The event is $20 thereafter for the UNM community and general public.

State Supreme Court Justice Pamela B. Minzner will give the keynote address at a luncheon held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. She will share her experience as a woman attorney in New Mexico.

Bernalillo County District Attorney Kari Brandenburg will co-lead a session on "Identifying gender discrimination/issues in criminal law" from 11:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m.

The Justice Mary Walter's Award reception will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. to honor Chief Justice Petra Maes and Attorney General Patricia Madrid. School of Law Dean Suellyn Scarnecchia will also be introduced and honored.
