FORMER SENATOR AND U.S. PRESIDENTIAL HOPEFUL GARY HART TO SPEAK AT UNM LAW SCHOOL

Former U.S. Senator Gary Hart will speak at the University of New Mexico School of Law on Monday, April 21, at 6 p.m. in the law school's Bratton Hall forum, 1117 Stanford NE.

Hart's lecture, sponsored by the UNM Student Bar Association, will focus on
"The Iraq War and America's Role in the World." A question and answer period will follow the talk, which is free and open to the public.

Prolific author, lecturer, teacher, scholar and attorney, in 1984, Hart was runner-up candidate for the Democratic Party's nomination for U.S. president. Prior, he served as a U.S. senator from Colorado.

Most recently, Hart co-chaired both the U.S. Commission on National Security/ 21st Century, which issued three public reports forecasting the age of terrorism and outlined a new, post-Cold War national security policy, and the Council on Foreign Relations task force on homeland security, which recently released its report "America-Still Unprepared, Still in Danger."

News reports place Hart near the top in a crowded field of Democratic presidential hopefuls.

The SBA, a non-partisan organization, sponsors events to facilitate community discussion of important public issues.
