UNM CONVOCATIONS TO BE HELD AT MAIN, BRANCH CAMPUSES

Former U.S. Surgeon General Dr. M Joycelyn Elders, Navajo code talker Thomas Begay and Zuni Pueblo Governor Arlen Quetaki are among this year's University of New Mexico convocation speakers. Departmental ceremonies will take place across UNM campuses and in the community complementing the main campus commencement ceremony set for Saturday, May 17, at 9 a.m. in the UNM Arena (The "Pit").

Elders will speak to School of Medicine graduates Friday, May 16, at 2 p.m. in the Kiva Auditorium, Albuquerque Convention Center. Begay, Quetaki and Navajo Nation President Joe Shirley, Jr. will speak at the UNM-Gallup convocation Thursday, May 15, at 6 p.m. in the Gallup High School gym.

The UNM Alumni Association will hold open house for graduating seniors Monday, May 12, through Friday, May 16, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Hodgin Hall. The group also cosponsors the annual UNM president's reception and picnic set for Saturday, May 17, from 1 to 3 p.m. at University House, 1901 Roma NE.
